Falkirk District Older People’s Network: Understanding Local Priorities and Power of Attorney

The next meeting of the Falkirk District Older People’s Network (OPN) will take place on Thursday 3 September 2026, 10am – 12pm, at 1st Falkirk Scout Hall, Pleasance, Falkirk FK1 1BF. The Network is open to individuals aged 50 years old and over, community groups, and organisations with an interest in supporting older people across Falkirk District. Whether you’re a regular member or joining us for the first time, everyone is welcome.

Opening the session, we are pleased to welcome Professor Ross McGuffie, Chief Executive of NHS Forth Valley, to discuss NHS Forth Valley’s Population Health Strategy. Together, we will consider what population health means for older people in Falkirk District and how communities and local organisations can contribute. Following this, Vivienne Malcolm of Solicitors for Older People Scotland will provide a short information session about the importance of Power of Attorney and Wills. Within this, she will also highlight when people should consider putting Power of Attorney and Wills in place, and where to go for further advice.

The second half of the meeting will encourage members to share their thoughts on local priorities for older people, identifying the issues that matter most and exploring how the Network can continue to be a strong voice for older people. As part of this, together we will begin to shape planning for the upcoming Falkirk Older People’s Day (Thursday 1 October 2026); sharing ideas and discussing how we can work together to make the event a success. As always, we will close the session with members updates – giving everyone the opportunity to share news, upcoming events and examples of good practice from across Falkirk District.
