The Young Trustees Movement (YTM) aims to bring together current and aspiring young trustees, employers, and allies to increase the representation of trustees aged 30 years old and under on charity boards, enhancing the quality of their experience.
Recognising that less than 3% of charity trustees are under 30 years old, YTM is calling for increased board diversity. There are many boards who champion diversity and are reaping the benefits of diversity of perspectives – however, statistics show there are not nearly enough. While YTM’s focus is on age, young people are not just part of one demographic, therefore this campaign is part of a wider call for board diversity.
As part of this campaign, they are hosting online training, 12pm – 1pm, across multiple dates (via Zoom), focusing on championing diversity within boards:
- Wednesday 15 April 2026
- Wednesday 13 May 2026
- Wednesday 10 June 2026
By the end of the training, it is hoped attendees will:
- be able to articulate and understand how young trustees can enable organisations to navigate uncertainty, future proof decisions and reflect the interest of their communities
- have a framework to understand how to approach diversity on boards
- be able to run a session with a board to plan practical and achievable next steps
Tickets are free, although advance booking is required to gain access to the Zoom sessions. To book your place, please visit the Eventbrite page (linked for your convenience).
