We are so excited to celebrate that Bailliefields Community Hub was this week awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service for 2025!
The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local volunteering groups in the UK – and is equivalent to an MBE. Awarded for life, the King’s Award honours the very best of local voluntary groups, showcasing how they create a positive impact in their communities. Bailliefields Community Hub is one of 231 charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups across the UK to receive the prestigious award this year. Speaking to Falkirk Herald about the Award, trustee Stephen Sutton said:
“We are delighted that our group’s work has been recognised, and it is a great honour for all our volunteers who make Bailliefields Community Hub and Westquarter & Redding Cricket Club the vibrant, welcoming place it is.”
Bailliefields Community Hub, based in the Upper Braes, is a charity dedicated to building a more inclusive and supportive community. Driven by a team of dedicated volunteers, Bailliefields is a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation who continues to adapt and grow to meet community needs—delivering essential services, fostering inclusion, and building a connected, resilient community. Recognising the dedicated volunteers contributing to their local community and working to make life better for those around them, this Award celebrates Bailliefields as ‘A Place for All’ – the core principle behind all activities, this encapsulates their focus on inclusivity, wellbeing, and connection, regardless of age, background, or ability.
As part of this focus, Bailliefields Community Hub offers a range of activities and groups which aim to foster community spirit and increase opportunities for participation and engagement. Some of which include:
- free coaching to groups like Alzheimer Scotland and Forth Valley Disability Sports
- providing a “Changing Places” facility
- hosting dementia-friendly social cafés
- supporting junior cricket opportunities such as the Girls Only Dynamos programs
- providing community spaces for let to other organisations and groups
- creating a community garden for sustainable food growing and biodiversity
Reflecting on our work with Bailliefields Community Hub, and the phenomenal and innovative opportunities they create for inclusion within our communities, our CEO Victoria McRae said:
“Volunteering has become the foundation to many of our communities within the Falkirk District, and Bailliefields is a key representation of the potential for growth and innovation when dedicated individuals come together for the benefit of others. We were thrilled to celebrate their successes earlier this year when we named them our ‘Organisation of the Year’, and nothing has delighted us more than continuing this celebration with their receipt of the Kings Award for Voluntary Service 2025. Their core ethos of community care, inclusivity, and collaboration is something which exudes from each of their volunteers, and it is thanks to each of them that they have been able to grow and develop over the years. The Bailliefields team is a fantastic example of developing success based on positive volunteering opportunities and community first mentality. We can’t wait to see what they will go on to achieve in 2026 and beyond. Congratulations all!”
