After a busy festive period, we’re welcoming in the new year with the exciting launch of our New Year, New You campaign!
New Year, New You is a series of volunteer recruitment events across Falkirk District, shining a light on how people can get involved and volunteer in their local community.
We know that volunteering numbers are down across Scotland – both through research from Volunteer Scotland, and because you, our local community groups and third sector have told us. This campaign is our response, and we need you to tell us about the volunteering roles you have available and need people to fill.
We will then promote your roles throughout January and February, as we promote and celebrate the amazing impact of volunteering, along with its many benefits and advantages. Contact us by email to share and highlight your opportunities: info@cvsfalkirk.org.uk or speak to one of our volunteering team.
You can also book a stall for your group or organisation at one of our upcoming volunteer recruitment fayres, promoting your volunteering opportunities. Our events take place on:
- Monday 20 January, 3pm – 6pm, Beancross and Newlands Community Centre in Grangemouth
- Saturday 1 February, 12pm – 3pm, Dennyloanhead Community Hall, Denny
In addition, we are running volunteer drop-ins at locations across Falkirk District:
- Thursday 9 January: 4pm – 7pm at Bonnybridge Library
- Monday 13 January: 4pm – 7pm at Bo’ness Library
- Wednesday 15 January: lunchtime drop-in, 12:30pm – 1:30pm (online via Teams)
- Thursday 16 January: evening drop-in, 6pm – 7pm at the CVS Falkirk & District office in Callendar Business Park
All of these events are open to the public and provide a great opportunity to meet directly with potential volunteers in different ways. To book your place, simply complete the online form (linked).
As summarised by our Volunteering Development Officer, Ashleigh Gillespie:
“New Year, New You is all about new possibilities and good intentions. Our recruitment events are aimed at bringing people to volunteering opportunities across the District, making it easier to connect new volunteers with local charities, as volunteers’ contributions are invaluable to the success of the services offered around the Falkirk District area, but also to the lives of the groups and individuals they work with.”
Our online channels will also be promoting the advantages that volunteering brings individuals too. Research from Volunteer Scotland and the National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) shows that people often see their physical and mental health improve through volunteering, develop their confidence and their connections by meeting new people, and gain a real sense of achievement from their roles. We want everyone to have the chance to get involved and experience these benefits!
Keep a close eye on our social media pages and our website this month for further information as we promote volunteering to our Falkirk District communities.
