National Adult Support and Protection (ASP) Awareness Day on Friday 20 February 2026 is an important reminder of our shared responsibility to safeguard adults who may be at risk of harm. The day encourages all of us to strengthen our understanding, challenge stigma, and stay alert to signs of neglect, exploitation, or abuse. Every adult deserves dignity, respect, and the ability to make their own choices – and support is available if you, or someone you know, may be at risk.
As part of this campaign, we’re promoting opportunities for third sector organisations and communities to build confidence in recognising and responding to potential adult harm, develop understanding of the fundamentals of Adult Support and Protection, and learn about the support available from CVS Falkirk & District to strengthen safeguarding policies that protect the people you work with, as well as your staff and volunteers.
To develop your own knowledge of Adult Support and Protection, please see further information below:

Responding To Harm: See something that doesn’t feel right? Say something.
Harm can take many forms – physical, psychological, financial, sexual or neglect – and it can happen anywhere. Everyone has a part to play in spotting the signs and acting if they’re worried. You don’t have to be certain; raising a concern can make all the difference.
To raise a concern, contact the Falkirk Adult Support & Protection Team:
- Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm: 01324 506070
- Out of hours: 01786 470500
- If it’s an emergency, always dial 999.
By understanding what ASP is and how to raise a concern, we can help protect vulnerable adults and make our communities stronger and safer for everyone. See something that doesn’t feel right? Say something.
Limit Risk; Get A Safeguarding Policy:
This year, ASP Awareness Day highlights the potential for harm within supported settings, particularly for staff and volunteers. At CVS Falkirk & District, we recognise the vital role that third sector organisations and community groups play in supporting people across our communities. Whether your work involves adults, children, families or volunteers, having a clear and effective safeguarding policy in place is essential.
A safeguarding policy:
- Helps protect adults at risk and children from harm
- Gives staff and volunteers confidence to respond to concerns
- Sets out clear procedures for reporting and recording
- Demonstrates good governance and accountability
- Builds trust with the people and communities you support
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Even small, volunteer-led groups need clear guidance on what to do if they are worried about someone. The right policy ensures that no one is left unsure about how to act – because taking action quickly can make all the difference.
If your organisation needs support to review, update or develop a safeguarding policy for adults or children, CVS Falkirk & District is here to help (email info@cvsfalkirk.org.uk or phone 01324 692000). Let’s work together to create safer communities for all.
