Falkirk Council’s Employment and Training Unit (ETU) has funding to provide 55 paid placements to people aged 25 years old and over, who have been unemployed for over 12 months and have barriers to employment, with public and third sector organisations.
The Employer Recruitment Incentive (ERI) (also known as LTU) is funded by Scottish Government, in response to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participating groups and organisations must have people in place by March this year.
These placements – which may be entry-level positions – will be fixed term for 26 weeks, at 30 hours per week, with an hourly wage of £12.82 (paid by Falkirk Council through the ERI).
What Is Involved?
ETU is asking third sector and public groups and organisations:
- can they identify any opportunities within their organisation?
- do they have any third sector contacts who would be interested in this?
- do they know anyone who meets the eligibility criteria who would be interested?
While the placements must be a maximum of 30 hours per week, these can be worked flexibly.
Placements must be supported by a nominated staff member (mentor) who, in turn, will be supported by a named contact from ETU. The organisation or group will be responsible for induction and day-to-day management of the participant, and progress will be reviewed regularly with the participant and mentor, and can be stopped if not working out.
Where the placement is successful, additional funding may be available after the 26-week period. Named contacts from ETU will be able to help investigate this.
