The December School Holiday Food and Childcare Programme fund from Falkirk Council is now open, with funding of up to £2,000 available.
The fund aims to support local organisations delivering activities and food to children and young people from low-income families across Falkirk during the December school holiday.
Who is the funding for?
The funding is aimed at school aged children, aged 5 – 14 years old, who are most likely to be experiencing disadvantage due to continued poverty. 85% of the fund is intended for children and young people from the fund’s priority family groups, listed below:
- children from lone parent families
- children from families of ethnic minority communities
- children from families with a disabled adult or child
- children from families with a young mother (under 25 years old)
- children from families with a child under one year old
- children from larger families (3 or more children)
Funded activities should be targeted at (but not limited to) children and young people from these priority family groups.
The remaining 15% of the funding can be used flexibly to reach other children, including those under 5 years old and older children, who would benefit from access to free holiday clubs, food and activities. This could include, but is not limited to:
- children from other low-income families
- care-experienced children and young people
- young carers
- children in need of protection
- children supported by a Child’s Plan
- children with additional support needs (ASN)
- children who have undergone significant transitions, for example, starting in ELC, primary or secondary school
