Scottish Government and COSLA have published the Creating Hope Together Suicide Prevention Action Plan for 2026–29, the next phase of Scotland’s long‑term strategy to reduce suicide and improve support for those affected.
The plan focuses on 4 strategic outcomes:
- creating safer environments
- improving understanding and tackling stigma
- ensuring access to support
- strengthening collaboration and use of evidence and lived experience
The plan builds on learning from the initial strategy period, and a commitment to continue to build suicide prevention into broader funding programmes and priorities. In addition, annual funding for suicide prevention will increase to £3 million.
