In addition to its Climate Action Grants programme, FEL Scotland is offering Community Active Travel Accelerator Grants 2026-2027 to help communities across Falkirk District and Clackmannanshire identify barriers to active travel, and develop local solutions which encourage walking, wheeling and cycling for everyday journeys.

Funded by SEStran, the programme supports projects that improve accessibility, inclusion and participation in low-carbon travel. Two funding options are available:

First Steps Grants: £500 – £2,000 for groups exploring active travel challenges for the first time
Next Steps Grants: up to £3,000 for communities ready to test ideas and build on existing work

Funding can support a wide range of activities, including creative community engagement, street audits, bike buses, walk or wheel to school initiatives, traffic-free school events, training, research, learning exchanges, and small-scale trials, amongst others.

The programme is open to community groups, community councils, community development trusts, Community Interest Companies (CICs) and other not-for-profit organisations based in Falkirk or Clackmannanshire. Applicants must be members of FEL Scotland; membership is free, and can be accessed via the FEL Scotland membership page.

Applications are open to eligible community organisations based in Falkirk District, and Clackmannanshire and will be reviewed monthly until Friday 30 October 2026; the fund may close earlier depending on demand, and those interested are advised to apply as soon as possible.
