The latest round of Scottish Government’s CashBack for Communities Youth Work Fund will close to new applications at 1pm on Friday 20th March. YouthLink Scotland, who manage the fund, is accepting proposals for the delivery of targeted youth work activity programmes, which provide a range of activities for young people between 10 – 24 years old. A total of £700,000 is available. Funded activity must be delivered between June 2020 and the end of March 2021.

The new CVS Falkirk Funding Portal is now live on our website! The online portal is powered by Grantsonline, the UK’s most comprehensive and up to date UK grant funding information service. Once registered, users will be able to search for a range of different funding opportunities, across local and national organisations.
Save the Date: VHS Annual Conference and AGM November 2020
Voluntary Health Scotland (VHS) have announced that their Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Wednesday 4th November in Glasgow. “#WeArePublicHealth: Creating Health and Wellbeing for All” aims to bring together public health stakeholders from across the third and community sectors, NHS, national and local government, other public bodies, and academia, and will look at the 6 national public health priorities.
Power of Attorney: SOPS Guidance for Attorneys
Solicitors for Older People Scotland (SOPS) has developed new materials designed to support their clients and their Attorneys – which in this instance refers to the person with Power of Attorney for another individual. SOPS now provides a simple guide on the basics of being an Attorney, which will provide Attorneys with an understanding of their role and where to begin, and a Power of Attorney Record Book.

Diabetes UK has made the hard decision to cancel their upcoming DUKPC Insider event, which was featured in last week’s e-bulletin, in order to allow healthcare staff to continue to be available as needed.
Green Grangemouth Solar Project: Buy-In for Community Groups
Scene Connect are working with Falkirk Council (as part of the Grangemouth Growth Deal) to identify buildings, land, and community centres in Grangemouth to host solar panels and battery storage technology. Community ownership is a central aim of the Green Grangemouth Solar Project, and Scene is looking to work with Grangemouth community groups, who would be able to buy-in to the scheme and benefit financially from the sale of solar energy.
Dementia Friends Information Session: Monday 16th March
Falkirk Council’s Adult Support and Protection team is holding a Dementia Friends Information Session on Monday 16th March, 1pm – 4pm at Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Redbrae Road, Camelon, FK1 4DD. The interactive Information Session allows participants to learn about dementia through activities and discussions. Following the session will be a Dewis Choice workshop on Healthy Relationships in Later Life, exploring positive supportive networks in the family, community and online.
Health Protection Scotland COVID-19 Guidance
In response to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases across Scotland, Health Protection Scotland and NHS National Services Scotland have released a series of guidance documents, including for use in non-healthcare settings. The documents will be updated as and when required depending on the situation.

Our team at CVS Falkirk would like to thank all of our exhibitors, suppliers and especially our attendees who joined us at Falkirk Funders Fayre 2020 on Tuesday! Special thanks goes to: our social enterprise pop-up café, Community Focus Scotland CIC, Marie from THINK Consulting Solutions for delivering the afternoon’s presentation on community fundraising, our partners at Falkirk Council, and Bowhouse Community Centre, our wonderful local venue. Without them, the event wouldn’t have been possible. We’re delighted to have been able to bring 23 funders and support organisations from across both the local and national landscapes to Falkirk this year.
FREE Participation Requests Workshop This Thursday!
Following today’s successful Falkirk Funders Fayre 2020, we’d like to remind everyone that we are also holding a FREE participation requests workshop on Thursday 12th March, 1pm – 4pm at the Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Redbrae Road, Camelon, FK1 4DD. Held in partnership with the Scottish Centre for Community Development (SCDC), the workshop is aimed at local community groups looking to find out how to use participation requests to start discussions with decision-makers about improving public services. A light lunch will be available from 12:30pm.
