Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund: Successful Awards
Our team at CVS Falkirk is delighted to confirm the 36 local groups and organisations who received funding through the Falkirk Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund! We have been overwhelmed by the number, quality and creativity of the applications received and delighted to report that 36 groups and organisations were awarded funding for their community-based mental health and wellbeing projects and activities which will benefit people across the Falkirk district, totalling an investment of £415,139.50.

COVID-19 Update: Changes to Self-Isolation and Testing Requirements
From Sunday 1st May, most people in Scotland no longer need to take a COVID-19 test if they suspect they have the virus, and should follow guidance on staying at home if unwell. Testing remains available to specific groups, and advice has been published for people on the Highest Risk List. As the threat level in Scotland is currently at medium, self-isolation is no longer required by law. However, Scottish Government advise people in Scotland to continue to use “COVID sense” in containing the spread of the virus.
easyfundraising Free Community Fundraising Webinar
easyfundraising is holding a free funding webinar, “How to Tap into Unrestricted Funding for Your Organisation,” on Tuesday 3rd May, 12:30pm – 1:15pm via Zoom, focusing on community fundraising. Their Community Fundraising Manager Becky Coleman will demonstrate how the easyfundraising platform works, help attendees with getting started, share tips and advice on getting started and getting the wider community involved in fundraising efforts, and answer any questions.
People’s Postcode Trust: May Applications
People’s Postcode Trust will reopen for funding applications on Monday 2nd May. Funding is available to smaller charities and groups delivering projects with a positive impact on communities and the environment. Community Benefit Societies and Community Interest Companies can apply for grants of up to £25,000, and other not for profit organisations can apply for grants of up to £2,500 to support both project and core costs.
Health Impact Assessment: “Living Well Locally – Road Space Reallocation”
The Public Health and Sustainable Partnership group carried out a Health Impact Assessment to understand whether people’s health was improved by changing road space for motor vehicles to other uses. The group found that road space reallocation can make a difference. By reducing overall traffic volume, the adverse health impacts of motor traffic are likely to be reduced.
Sexual Assault Response Coordination Service
The Sexual Assault Response Coordination Service (SARCS) is a dedicated NHS Scotland service which offers healthcare and support following rape or sexual assault, if people are not ready, or are unsure about, reporting to the police. SARCS is a self-referral service, meaning that a GP or other healthcare professional referral is not needed; anyone over 16 years old can self-refer themselves.
Self Directed Support Forth Valley Awareness Session
Self Directed Support Forth Valley is holding an Awareness Session on Thursday 19th May, 1:30pm – 4pm at Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Redbrae Road, Camelon, FK1 4DD. The session provides an opportunity for anyone struggling to live at home independently, or any of their loved ones and carers, to learn more about Self-Directed Support. There will be a presentation covering what Self-Directed Support is and each stage of the process.
SCLD “My Home My Community” Event
As part of Scottish Learning Disability Week (which runs Monday 2nd May – Sunday 8th May), the Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD) is holding an event on Thursday 5th May, “My Home My Community”. The event takes place 1:30pm – 3pm, via Zoom, and is aimed at all community groups as well as learning disability organisations, featuring the new Active Connected Included resource.
