Breast Cancer Now is a charity working to change the lives of people affected by breast cancer by combining the power of research and support. Their helpline, health information, and support services are there for people affected by cancer and their loved ones every step of the way.
Completely free to book, their public health talks share information on early detection and prevention of breast cancer. Talks can be delivered online or in-person to private, public and third sector groups and organisations, such as workplaces, local community and religious groups, healthcare settings, and universities.
Sessions last approximately 50 minutes and are run by Breast Cancer Now’s trained public health volunteers, covering important information about breast cancer, including:
- breast cancer facts and figures
- breast awareness and the importance of early detection
- NHS breast screening programme
- signs and symptoms of breast cancer
- causes of breast cancer and how you can help reduce your risk
- myths and misconceptions
Talks are 40 minutes, plus 10 minutes extra for questions. The only criteria for booking a talk is that you have an audience of at least 15 people for communities, or 30 for workplaces.
To book a session, please visit the dedicated public health talks page.
Their team understand the barriers that some communities face in accessing healthcare and awareness information – if your audience has additional needs, they can help make your talk as inclusive as possible.
