Beyond Diagnosis is one of Bipolar Scotland’s key services, a free one to one peer support service, offering people living with bipolar an opportunity to explore ways to move forward through shared experience.
Bipolar Scotland is a national charity supporting people across Scotland who are living with bipolar, as well as their families and carers. The organisation’s focus is reducing isolation, improving understanding, supporting people to build self-management strategies which work for them, and providing hope for a future where people can live well with bipolar.
The Beyond Diagnosis service is delivered by trained peer workers with lived experience of bipolar, and is designed to offer a safe, non-judgemental space for people to talk openly about, and understand their experiences, and build confidence in managing their mental health. The service is available across Scotland via phone or online, in order to make it accessible regardless of location.
Bipolar Scotland says:
“People engaging in peer support find it immensely helpful in accepting their diagnosis and planning for the future.
“Many people wait a long time for support or may not feel ready to access clinical services, and peer support can be a really valuable step in helping people feel understood and less alone, as well as contributing to reducing the demands on the NHS.”
