Andy’s Man Club, a support group dedicated to men’s mental health, has recently celebrated one year of their Falkirk District group, which takes place every Monday at 7pm, Ochilview Park stadium, Gladstone Road, Stenhousemuir, FK5 4QL.
The group is open to all men in the community, offering a safe and non-judgmental space for men of all ages and backgrounds to come together and discuss their ups and downs.
With an average attendance of 10 – 15 men per week (and always with room for more to join), the group aims to be a lifeline for those navigating through personal storms, providing a space where men can open up about their mental health challenges without fear of judgment or stigma. They have committed to creating an inclusive environment which allows people to share their experiences, develop a sense of camaraderie and understand each other.
Andy’s Man Club aims to challenge societal barriers and traditional notions of masculinity, which can often discourage men from expressing vulnerability or seeking help, by “redefining what it means to be a man in the 21st Century”. By encouraging open conversations and promoting emotional wellbeing, the group aims to help men recognize that seeking support is not a sign of weakness, but an act of strength and courage.
Through regular attendance at Andy’s Man Club sessions, men have the opportunity to build a strong support network and a sense of community. The group dynamic fosters a sense of belonging and validation, empowering people to reach out when they need assistance and providing them with a network of people who care.
The group also offers men’s talking therapy sessions, offering benefits for mental health and overall wellbeing. By verbalizing their thoughts and emotions, participants can experience a sense of relief and catharsis. Expressing their feelings can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, while promoting a more positive outlook on life. Additionally, the feedback and support received from fellow attendees and trained facilitators can provide valuable insights and coping strategies.
They are supported by Stenhousemuir FC and Warriors in the Community SCIO, who are dedicated to using the power of football to improve their local community, and to improving the mental, emotional and social health of the community through work with Andy’s Man Club, amongst others.
There is no need to book a place at the Ochilview Park group, people are welcome to simply attend.
