Volunteers’ Week is always a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate – but for CVS Falkirk & District, it is especially meaningful. Our communities are powered by people who give their time, energy, and compassion to make life better for others. The many groups, organisations and volunteers we work with inspire us daily through the impact of showing up.
Volunteers are the quiet organisers, the friendly faces, the problem‑solvers, the connectors. Across the Falkirk District, volunteers run groups, support neighbours, protect green spaces, share skills, and deliver services that simply wouldn’t exist without them. Their impact is everywhere – sometimes visible, sometimes subtle, always significant.
In Grangemouth, Adam volunteers with Friends of Inchyra Park, an environmental project supporting community activity and strengthening local green spaces. “I believe community spaces matter, and I wanted to play a part in protecting and improving a place that people of all ages can enjoy. Whether it’s planting trees, improving access to spaces or helping with local projects, it feels like we’re building something positive for the future”, he says. “Seeing families, children and local residents spending time in the park makes the effort worthwhile and shows how important it is to look after the places we share.”
In Denny, Suzanne volunteers with Blossoms, a peer led support group for women: “Volunteering with Blossoms Supporting Women has shown me how powerful kindness and compassion can be. Being part of a creating a safe and welcoming space where women feel listened to, encouraged, and accepted is incredibly rewarding. Even the smallest conversations or acts of support can help build confidence, connection, and hope. It’s amazing to be part of a community that supports others to blossom.”
In Camelon, Renata volunteers with Parzenica Polish folk Dance Group Scotland, and highlights: “Every step we dance and every tradition we share is possible because of our volunteers. We are deeply grateful for the passion and support they bring to the Parzenica family.”
These stories are just a glimpse of the thousands of acts of generosity happening every week across the district. Different people, different motivations, different roles – but the same shared commitment to making Falkirk District a better place to live.
What makes volunteering in Falkirk special is the diversity of it. You’ll find volunteers leading walking groups, coaching youth sports, supporting community cafés, mentoring young people, running warm spaces, organising events, delivering food, planting trees, and so much more. This week, we’re celebrating all of it. Every hour given. Every conversation shared. Every moment of kindness. Every volunteer who has helped make Falkirk District a stronger, more connected, place.
To everyone who volunteers – thank you.
