The UK Parliament offers free, interactive and tailored outreach sessions for community groups in Scotland, designed to increase awareness of how Parliament operates (from contacting a local MP or a member of the House of Lords, influencing the legislative process, and participating in democratic engagement), encourage active citizenship, and develop campaigning and lobbying skills.
These sessions are currently delivered online (due to COVID-19), and are available to be book throughout the rest of the year. They are entirely free of charge, and no prior citizenship knowledge or training is required.
The sessions are led by the Senior Education and Engagement Officer for Scotland at the UK Parliament, who listens directly to attendees’ ideas and provides practical support and advice on how to take them forward. Sessions can be bespoke to community groups and organisations’ needs and ideas.
While sessions are currently online, in order to reach as many people across Scotland during the pandemic, there will be the opportunity for in-person sessions later in the year, when it is safe to do so.
For further information (including the range of sessions available, and how to book a session), please visit the UK Parliament website.
