We are delighted to announce that The Driving Force have passed the accreditation to become a Volunteer Friendly organisation – congratulations!!
Volunteer Friendly is a quality standard regulated in Scotland by Volunteer Scotland and the TSI Scotland Network. As part of this accreditation process, their assessors had great feedback about The Driving Force and their portfolio submission:
“It’s clear to see that volunteers are very well integrated within the organisation and that they are thought of and looked after. It’s great to see so much good practice within your volunteering programme.”
“This is very positive assessment of a small, volunteer-led organisation, highlighting how well-integrated and cared for the volunteers are. Well done The Driving Force on a great portfolio submission!”
The Driving Force is a volunteer-run local charity which helps people living with cancer in Bonnybridge, Denny and Banknock. Volunteer drivers take patients to and from hospital appointments and treatment sessions for cancer. The Driving Force also provide free hairdressing, podiatry and manicures for people having cancer treatments, and help with relaxation and stress management for people living with cancer and their families.
Since the charity started, they have helped 1625 people, made over 14,900 journeys, driven over 694,000 miles and delivered 1084 sessions with their therapists – incredible!
Reflecting on this experience, Bridget from The Driving Force stated:
“We are very pleased and proud to have been awarded a Volunteer Friendly Award by Volunteer Scotland. The committee have worked really hard to make all their policies and procedures the very best they can be so that our volunteers have a really rewarding and safe experience.”
