SportScotland is currently inviting applications to its Sport Facilities Fund, a strategic funding programme aimed at enhancing access to sport and physical activity across Scotland. The fund supports capital projects which deliver long-term benefits to communities by improving the quality, accessibility, and sustainability of local sports infrastructure.
Eligible applicants include registered charities, schools, area sports associations, sports trusts, and local authorities. The fund offers:
- up to £200,000 for projects covering a maximum of 50% of total costs
- up to £250,000 for projects in areas of high deprivation, covering up to 75% of costs
Funding is available for a wide range of capital improvements, including:
- construction of new or extended sports facilities
- upgrades to existing infrastructure
- inclusive changing facilities
- floodlighting to extend facility usage
- equipment essential for sport delivery
- enhancements to outdoor sport and adventure access
Projects within schools and educational settings are particularly encouraged, especially those that increase community access to physical activity and sport. SportScotland is committed to supporting initiatives that promote equality and inclusion, with priority given to projects engaging young people, women and girls, disabled individuals, and communities experiencing deprivation.
The fund is designed to help organisations deliver meaningful change, whether through expanding participation, improving accessibility, or enabling long-term sustainability. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate how their project will contribute to wider community wellbeing and align with SportScotland’s strategic goals.
The next closing date for small grant applications is Wednesday 1 April 2026.
