Falkirk Funders Fayre 2025 guests, Shared Care Scotland’s new Creative Breaks funding programme is now open with grants for third sector organisations.
About the Fund
Third sector organisations across Scotland are invited to apply for a share of £1.5 million in funding to deliver short breaks projects and services that support the health and wellbeing of both carers and the people they care for. The Creative Breaks programme, administered by Shared Care Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government, will award 12-month grants of up to £35,000 to fund activities that enable carers and the people they care for to take a break from the daily caring routine. Small unincorporated organisations can apply for a maximum of £10,000.
Short breaks activities can take many different forms – including breaks away (ie. overnight stays, residential breaks), days out, and/or shorter sessions (ie. regular activities). Activities must be designed to enable carers to have a life outside or alongside their caring role, and to support their health and wellbeing. Short breaks should also benefit the cared-for person and others (eg. family members) and help sustain the caring relationship.
Short break activities can be for the carers, for the people they care for, or for both the carers and the cared-for people to enjoy together. To be eligible for Creative Breaks funding, projects must be able to evidence how their activities will benefit both the carers and the people they care for, by providing a break from their normal routine.
Grants are for one year, running between October 2025 – September 2026.
Completed applications should be submitted by 5pm on Thursday 22 May 2025 (late or incomplete applications will not be accepted).
