The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is urging the public to be aware of wildfire risk this Spring, as figures show almost 80% of large outdoor fires since 2010 were recorded between March and May. Last week, they launched the Wildfire Prevention Campaign to highlight this risk and educate people how to behave responsibly when outdoors and how to keep safe.
When Scotland is at high threat of wildfires, SFRS alerts the public and partners through social media and their website of the areas across Scotland that are most likely to be affected; with sensible precautions, the public can play a crucial part in preventing wildfires from damaging wildlife, environment and rural communities.
The new campaign information pack (linked for your convenience) provides guidance on how to prevent wildfires, as well as key factors such as Hotspots, Flytipping, Campfire, amongst others. SFRS hopes this campaign will encourage the public to play their part in preventing wildfires from damaging wildlife, environment and rural communities.
