Next week is Register My Appliance Week 2024, taking place Monday 22nd January – Sunday 28th January, when the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) will be sharing messages and resources across their @SFRSYourSafety social media channels, using the hashtag #RegMyAppliance2024.
This year’s campaign encourages people to register their household appliances and electrical items on the Register My Appliance (RMA) website (linked for your convenience), especially those bought in the January sales, along with second-hand, preloved and appliances already in use.
Registering appliances on the RMA site ensures that people are directly informed if their appliances have been recalled due to a safety issue, or if a safety repair is needed. Registration is completely free and should only take a short time.
The RMA website also has resources on Care & Repair and Product Safety, which can help reduce the cost and environmental impact of running household appliances.
RMA Week and the website are both run by the the Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances (AMDEA), the UK trade association representing over 85% of all small and large domestic appliances sold in the UK. They estimate that there is 40 million unregistered appliances in the UK; the campaign is aimed at helping people register their appliances and improve their home’s safety and bills.
To register any of your appliances, or for further information, please visit the RMA registration page.
