Recyke-a-bike has received funding as part of Scotland’s Cycle Repair Scheme, funded by Scottish Government and managed by Cycling UK.
They are inviting people who need their bikes repaired or serviced, to take them to their premises.
The initiative is designed to encourage people to bring their old bikes out of storage and back onto local roads, as well as keeping well-used bikes pedalling smoothly and safely. With new cycling infrastructure being completed around the Forth Valley, there are more safe routes for cyclists. This scheme aims to help more people get out on their bikes, more often.
Inclusivity and accessibility are at the heart of the scheme, and all cycles are welcome, including:
- adult and child bikes
- tandems
- trikes
- handcycles
- non-standard and adapted bikes
People who use manual wheelchairs are also eligible to access free repairs.
Primarily, the scheme is aimed at people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford these repairs. No voucher or registration is required. Repairs of up to £50 per standard bike, and £100 for a non-standard bik,e are available on a first come basis, until the fund has been exhausted.
Individuals looking to have their bikes repaired can take them to Recyke-a-bike premises at Alloa Road (on the corner of Ladysneuk Road, Causewayhead, Stirling, FK9 5LN (no appointment necessary). Recyke-a-bike is open Monday – Saturday, 9am – 12pm and 1pm – 5pm.
