Membership in the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme is now a legal requirement for individuals carrying out a regulated role.
There is a 3 month grace period (Tuesday 1 April – Monday 30th June 2025) during which PVG scheme applications must be submitted for those who were in a regulated role prior to April.
Our team at CVS Falkirk & District strongly recommends that if you have volunteers or staff who were in post before Tuesday 1 April 2025, and need to obtain PVG membership due to their regulated role, you submit the application request to Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services (VSDS) as soon as possible.
Please note that VSDS cannot guarantee requests submitted in June will be processed in time to ensure compliance.
Volunteer Scotland updates their website daily with their “working on” date, which can be found via their notice. You can use this information to estimate when they may process your request. For example:
- if today’s date is Thursday 1 May
- and today’s “working on” date is Tuesday 15 April
- the “working on” date indicates they are working to roughly a 12 day turnaround, meaning they are processing application requests received 12 working days ago
Please note that the “working on” date may fluctuate depending on the volume of incoming applications and available resource; ie. the turnaround may be more or less than 12 working days at the time of you reading this article. Therefore, it is imperative that you submit your applications as soon as possible to guarantee that you meet the deadline.
To submit your application, please complete the Online PVG Application Request Form (linked for your convenience).
