PLUS Forth Valley has launched Falkirk PlayPLUS and PLUSYouth, offering tailored and inclusive weekend and school holiday activities for children aged 5 – 17 years old with disabilities and additional support needs (ASN) in Falkirk District.
This includes the new Play & Chat support group for parents and carers, which takes place every third Thursday of the month, 9:30am – 11am, at Bailliefields Community Hub, Sunnyside Road, Brightons, FK2 0RN.
Play & Chat is free to attend, with no diagnosis required. Parents and carers are welcome to attend alone, or with their children.
The services aim to create a safe space for fun, friendship, and support, especially for children with disabilities. Designed around the interests and needs of those attending, the sessions include a wide variety of activities such as games, crafts, sensory and messy play, baking, music, outings, and technology-based play. Special themed events take place throughout the year, including celebrations for Christmas and Halloween, as well as themes suggested by the children and young people themselves.
Falkirk PlayPLUS is aimed at children aged 5 – 11 years old, while PLUSYouth supports those aged 12 – 17. Both services offer a safe and inclusive space where participants can enjoy valuable social and leisure time that may be limited outside of school and family life.
Children with disabilities, particularly those with non-disabled siblings, benefit from having their own dedicated space to engage and build friendships. The service fosters a strong sense of belonging and helps young people feel included, supported, and confident.
