On 18 March 2025, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) published the Pathways to Work: Reforming Benefits and Support to Get Britain Working Green Paper. The paper sets out a range of changes, focusing primarily on benefits provided to working-age people who are disabled or unable to work. You can read the full paper and/or look at accessible formats on the Government website (linked for your convenience).
In line with this, the DWP are running a public consultation to gather views on the proposed plans to reform health and disability benefits and employment support, with the commitment of putting the views and voices of disabled people and people with health conditions at the heart of everything they do.
This consultation applies to England, Wales and Scotland, and the DWP are keen to hear views from a wide group of people, in particular disabled people and people with health conditions and disability organisations. To seek the views of disabled people and their representatives, DWP will be running a number of accessible virtual and face to face events on the consultation. More information on the details of these events and on how to register will be advertised on the ‘Pathways to Work: Reforming Benefits and Support to Get Britain Working Green Paper‘ webpage in due course.
The consultation is currently set to close on 30 June 2025, but this is subject to extension to ensure that the consultation will run for a full 12 weeks after all the accessible versions of the paper are published.
To complete the consultation, you can either respond online via Microsoft Forms or email their team directly at: consultation.pathwaystowork@dwp.gov.uk.
