The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) is reviewing their current training programme, in order to ensure they are providing the sector with relevant learning. They have launched a short online survey to gather feedback, and are looking to hear from as many people across the third sector as possible. All submissions will be anonymous. The deadline for responses is Thursday 24th December.

NHS Forth Valley, Clackmannanshire and Stirling Alcohol and Drug Partnership, and Falkirk Alcohol and Drug Partnership are running a festive alcohol safety campaign, “Rethink Your Drink”, throughout December. The campaign’s advice includes not drinking more than 14 units of alcohol per week, not mixing alcohol with medication, and drinking plenty of water.

Home Energy Scotland (HES) is Scottish Government’s free energy advice service, providing impartial advice and support to help people stay warm, make the best use of energy and save money on their bills. They can provide (amongst other information) clear advice on ways to save energy and reduce fuel costs while staying warm at home, and advice about grant and interest free loan funding for heating, insulation and more.

In addition to Phase 2’s second round, Connecting Scotland has launched a form for registered care homes in Scotland to apply for an iPad and internet connectivity. This new initiative is part of the Digital Inclusion – Connecting Residents in Scotland’s Care Homes. The deadline for applications is Monday 18th January 2021.

Child Winter Heating Assistance is a new £200 payment to help families of children and young people on the highest rate care component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children, to help with the cost of heating their home. People will qualify for the payment if they live in Scotland and received this DLA on any one day between Monday 21st September 2020 – Sunday 27th September 2020. People do not need to apply for this payment. It will be made automatically by Friday 11th December.
