The Neighbourhood Ecosystem Fund, managed by Inspiring Scotland, supports community-led projects that help restore and enhance local ecosystems across Scotland. The fund aims to encourage communities to explore and develop ambitious ecosystem restoration projects while raising awareness of the importance of nature restoration.

Community-led organisations can apply for grants of up to £13,500 to support the development stages of ecosystem restoration projects, including feasibility work, evidence gathering, project planning and strategy development. Successful projects also receive up to £1,500 of fundraising support to help secure future funding and move projects towards delivery.

Projects may focus on habitat and species restoration, freshwater and wetland restoration, connecting nature corridors, coastal and marine initiatives, tackling invasive non-native species, or enhancing and connecting nature within villages, towns and cities.

The fund is open to not-for-profit, community-led organisations in Scotland with an annual income of less than £200,000. Applications are made through a two-stage process and are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year. Applicants will usually receive a response to their expression of interest within two to three weeks.
