Eat Well Age Well has now launched their Malnutrition Advice Line (MAL) nationally across Scotland.
MAL is a freephone number, and aims to support older people who have a poor appetite, or are experiencing unintentional weight loss, to eat well and stay nourished at home.
The advice line is available to people aged 65 years old or more, their family, carers, and health professionals supporting an older person to live at home in Scotland. It is managed by Eat Well Age Well and is supported by trained staff, dieticians and volunteers who provide advice, information and support.
It is not an emergency telephone line, but aimed at offering support to those at low or moderate risk of malnutrition. Should a caller require more specialist dietary advice or medical intervention, they will be signposted appropriately to their GP or a NHS dietitian.
The Malnutrition Advice Line is available Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9am – 4pm, by freephone: 0800 13 88 220.
For further information, please call the advice line number above or visit the Eat Well Age Well website.
