The Henry Smith Foundation Holiday Grants Programme provides one‑off grants to schools, youth groups and not for profit organisations to help children younger than 13 years old take part in recreational day trips or short residential breaks. The latest round opens for applications on Thursday 20 August 2026.
Grants of £500 – £3,000 are available for trips lasting from one day to seven days. The programme aims to support children experiencing financial hardship, systemic inequity, or disability, by providing opportunities for enjoyable experiences which may otherwise be inaccessible.
Priority is given to organisations supporting disabled children and those working with children who have limited access to holidays and leisure activities.
Funding can support recreational activities such as camping trips, outdoor adventures, and visits to the seaside. Trips must take place within the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands and should not have educational, curriculum‑based, or religious objectives.
The application deadline for trips taking place Thursday 1 October 2026 – Thursday 31 December 2026 is Thursday 19 November 2026. Applications must be submitted at least six weeks before the planned trip, and early applications are encouraged, as funding may be allocated before the closing date.
