Scottish Parliament’s Health, Social Care and Sport Committee is inviting views as part of its 2026-27 pre-budget scrutiny, focusing this year on mental health funding.
The Committee would like to explore current levels of spending on mental health services, and how this is allocated across different interventions. The Committee would also like to explore how decisions on spending allocations are made. They welcome input from stakeholders across Scotland, including:
- members of the public
- advocacy groups
- professional bodies
- industry experts
- academic institutions
- government agencies
- any other stakeholders with an interest in mental health policy and funding, including the third sector
The intention of pre-budget scrutiny, which takes place in advance of the publication of the Scottish Budget, is that committees will use pre-budget reports to influence the formulation of spending proposals while they are still in development. Responses submitted during this exercise will help shape the forthcoming Scottish Budget, (normally be expected to be published in December, although timings have yet to be confirmed).
The call for views is open until Friday 15 August 2025 and submissions are welcomed in English, Gaelic, Scots or any other language.
