GrowGreen Scotland delivers Get Growing Scotland, Scotland’s resource hub and advisory service for growing in communities.
It promotes community-led food growing, and its benefits, to provide everyone with the opportunity to participate and benefit from growing together.
The Get Growing Scotland free advisory service, with support from the National Lottery Community Fund Scotland, supports people, groups and partner organisations to develop ideas, access land, and grow and realise their vision.
The Help@ direct advisory service is free for community groups starting or developing a food growing site, and organisations and landowners supporting community-led food growing, with advice and ongoing support on a wide range of topics from securing land and developing a vision, to organising and operating a site. Through sharing experience from grassroots projects, tapping into GrowGreen Scotland’s knowledge, expertise, and support, and connecting projects and partner and policy opportunities, the service aims to enable and accelerate action, and save time and money.
“Community food growing is fast becoming a vital tool in building local resilience. Hundreds of community food initiatives can be found across Scotland, from containers outside community centres to shared allotments, community gardens, farms and orchards. Growing food together is about much more than fresh local food—it’s about empowering people, restoring nature, and strengthening the social fabric of our communities from the ground up. Everyone can take part, and EVERY community can benefit, and we can help to make that happen.”
GrowGreen Scotland aims to represent and connect communities and partners, developing new pathways together and absorbing and sharing ideas to generate inspiration, action, and momentum around environment and climate.
