There is funding available for community-based groups or organisations within Falkirk & District area to run activities to raise awareness of suicide prevention and World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) (Tuesday 10 September 2024).
The theme for WSPD is “changing the narrative” with the aim to raise awareness about the importance of changing the narrative surrounding suicide and transforming how we perceive this complex issue. The outcome of the fund is for community-based events and/or activities to raise awareness of WSPD and suicide prevention. They should encourage more open and honest conversations about mental health and suicide in communities of geography and/or interest across Falkirk.
Activities can include local breakfast or lunch clubs, peer support groups, or events to promote suicide prevention. This is not an exhaustive list, it is to provide you with some ideas for activities that could be developed. Activities that have taken place in Falkirk recently have included:
- Suicide Prevention & Mental Health training for community group staff & volunteers.
- Exercise classes for children & young people to bring them together to promote mental health & wellbeing.
- Support for local service provision.
- Promoting and signposting local suicide prevention support.
This funding is provided by Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership.
