Carers’ Week 2025
June 9 - June 15
FreeRunning Monday 9 June 2025 – Sunday 15 June 2025, Carers’ Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. The campaign also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities, to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
Carers’ Week is brought to life by thousands of individuals and organisations who come together to provide support for carers, run activities, highlight the vital role carers play in our communities and draw attention to just how important caring is.
This year the theme is “Caring About Equality”, highlighting the inequalities faced by unpaid carers, including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, and poor mental and physical health. Research has shown that often, carers of all ages miss out on opportunities in their education, careers, or personal lives, because of their caring role. Carers Week 2025 aims to work towards an equal society, where carers are truly valued, recognised and supported.
In Falkirk District
Aligning with this theme are the topics of some of our upcoming forums here at CVS Falkirk & District: the Safer and Empowered Communities Forum will be focusing on Human Rights and Equalities First Approaches, while the Health and Wellbeing Forum will highlight support for unpaid carers living in Falkirk District.

Who is a Carer?
A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition, addiction, or who needs extra help as they grow older. It isn’t someone who volunteers or is employed to provide support.
