SUMMARY:Carers’ Week 2025
DESCRIPTION:Running Monday 9 June 2025 – Sunday 15 June 2025\, Carers’ Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring\, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. The campaign also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities\, to identify as carers and access much-needed support. \nCarers’ Week is brought to life by thousands of individuals and organisations who come together to provide support for carers\, run activities\, highlight the vital role carers play in our communities and draw attention to just how important caring is. \nThis year the theme is “Caring About Equality”\, highlighting the inequalities faced by unpaid carers\, including a greater risk of poverty\, social isolation\, and poor mental and physical health. Research has shown that often\, carers of all ages miss out on opportunities in their education\, careers\, or personal lives\, because of their caring role. Carers Week 2025 aims to work towards an equal society\, where carers are truly valued\, recognised and supported. \nIn Falkirk District\nAligning with this theme are the topics of some of our upcoming forums here at CVS Falkirk & District: the Safer and Empowered Communities Forum will be focusing on Human Rights and Equalities First Approaches\, while the Health and Wellbeing Forum will highlight support for unpaid carers living in Falkirk District. \nIf this has intrigued you and would like to find out more about these events\, please do click on the below links for more details and to book a place: \n\n“Human Rights and Equalities First Approaches”\, SAEC Forum: 9:45am – 1pm on Wednesday 28 May 2025\, at Tamfourhill Community Hub\n“Support for Unpaid Carers”\, HWB Forum: 9:45am – 1pm on Wednesday 4 June 2025\, at Westfield Park Community Centre\n\nWho is a Carer?\nA carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability\, illness\, mental health condition\, addiction\, or who needs extra help as they grow older.
