The Co‑op Local Community Fund supports local projects which provide opportunities and resources to help people and communities thrive. Funding is generated through Co‑op member spending, with members able to choose a local cause to support.

The fund prioritises projects that address key community needs, including improving access to food, supporting young people, enhancing mental wellbeing, promoting community cohesion and creating more sustainable communities. Projects that promote diversity and inclusion may also be supported.

Eligible applicants include charities, community groups, social enterprises and other not‑for‑profit organisations delivering activity within their local area. Organisations must be UK‑based, have a bank account and apply for funding for a specific project which benefits the community.

Successful groups take part in a 12 month partnership, during which Co‑op members can select to support their project. Funding levels vary depending on member engagement, with each community typically sharing a local funding allocation.

The deadline for applications is 11:59pm on Thursday 24 September 2026.
