The Young Families Peer Support Project, ran by The Breastfeeding Network have Volunteering Opportunities available across Forth Valley.
The project trains mums aged 25 years old and under to be breastfeeding peer supporters, running a new support group for young parents in the Falkirk area. The project aims to provide free peer support for young parents and their families around infant feeding, early parenting and mental wellbeing.
Volunteers will plan and provide social outings, groups and day trips, and provide one to one phone and text support to local families. They may also volunteer in other ways, such as on the hospital wards.
This is a tailor-made project, following needs identified by families, and aiming to bridge the gaps in their communities.
Hours volunteering with the Young Families Peer Support Project can contribute to both Duke of Edinburgh and Saltire Awards (open to young people up to 25 years old); babies and toddlers are welcome to be with their parent during training, if required.
Expenses for travel will be available to attend any face to face training sessions, and once active as volunteers.
The deadline for getting involved is next Tuesday 16th May.
