As part of a host of new funding opportunities, the Motability Foundation has launched a large funding round aimed at significantly improving access to affordable, high-quality wheelchairs and mobility equipment for disabled people across the UK.
Grants of £250,000 – £1 million are available for projects lasting 12 months – 3 years, with applications closing on Monday 15 December 2025.
This large round is designed to support organisations delivering large-scale or national provision, including those offering equipment loan schemes, assessments, maintenance, and training. Funding can cover manual and powered wheelchairs, walking aids, power packs, staff costs, and overheads. Projects must demonstrate meaningful impact, particularly in deprived areas or among underrepresented groups.
Applicants must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI); successful applicants will be invited to complete a full application.
Organisations must meet governance and financial criteria, including 3 years of operational history, a minimum annual income of £50,000, and sufficient free reserves. Required policies include safeguarding, whistleblowing, and equal opportunities.
Monitoring is essential. Funded organisations must submit 6 month and annual reports detailing progress against agreed indicators, financial updates, and anonymised case studies. Grants exceeding £750,000 will include funding for external evaluation to evidence impact and support future sustainability.
