Bailliefields Community Hub SCIO has announced that its Social Café will now run weekly, every Tuesday afternoon, 12pm – 2pm, from Tuesday 3 February 2026.
Launched last April as a fortnightly space for older people, and for those living with dementia, response from the local community has been continuously positive. Everyone is welcome, with a free sandwich and hot drink available. Dominoes, jigsaws and games are optional.
Bailliefields Community Hub also offers a weekly Paracise class on Tuesdays, 3pm – 3:45pm, at a cost of £3 per class, with no need to book in advance. “Paracise is a gentle low-impact exercise class with no floor work which helps posture, balance and muscle memory. It’s soft on joints, helping people stay mobile and flexible. Suitable for older people or those returning from injury.”
Additionally, the hub’s Try Something New dementia group has been running successfully for over 7 years now. Taking place 10am – 12pm on the last Monday of each month, participants take part in a different activity or exercise, then have tea, coffee, and a chat afterwards. January’s recent activity was Indoor Curling and Golf (putting). The group is free to attend, and suitable for those living with dementia and their carers.
Finally, as the hub is the community arm of Westquarter & Redding Cricket Club, they are now running a Walking Cricket group on Tuesdays, 1pm – 2:30pm. “Ideal for older adults or those with mobility challenges, Walking Cricket is free to attend and open to all. Held indoors during the winter months but outdoors from late Spring, equipment is provided and no experience is necessary. Just turn up and have a go.”
