Our team at CVS Falkirk & District would like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who joined us at Wednesday’s Falkirk Adult Support and Protection (ASP) Multi-Agency Conference, including our partners from the public sector and local third sector groups (including members of the Safer and Empowered Communities Forum, which focuses on issues affecting communities, and community cohesion).
The event focused on the theme of “Financial Harm Affecting Older Adults”, providing resources, information and learning to help attendees supporting older people across Falkirk District who may be vulnerable and at risk of financial harm or abuse. It also tied in with local activities around National Adult Support and Protection Day, which took place yesterday, Thursday 20 February 2025.
Special thanks go to our colleagues at Falkirk Council ASP, our venue Forth Valley College (especially for their delicious catering), and all of our speakers and workshop facilitators from across the sectors. This includes Councillor Alf Kelly, Older Person’s Champion, who opened the event.
Our Partnership Development Manager, Eloise Wilson, who led the event for CVS Falkirk & District, said:
“It’s been wonderful to be involved in the conference – as the Third Sector Interface for Falkirk District, we sit on the ASP Committee to help represent the third sector, and we facilitate the Safer and Empowered Communities Forum. That forum aligns so well with this topic, in our professional lives, but also in our personal lives.
“I would encourage any of our partners who attended the conference, and who are looking to engage with the third sector, to get in touch about speaking at one of our forum meetings.”
Alan Small, the Independent Chair of the ASP Committee, said:
“The day has been excellent – excellent speakers, excellent workshops, excellent resources. The question is, what do we do with all that? Hopefully, we use it to find a way and make vulnerable adults’ lives safer in Falkirk District – as the slogan says, it’s everyone’s job, and I personally think it’s been a great topic for ASP Day tomorrow.”
