The Alec Dickson Trust provides grants of up to £500 to support volunteering and community service projects organised and led by young people aged 30 years old and under across the UK. The fund is designed to help young people put their ideas into action and deliver projects which benefit local communities (particularly those who are disadvantaged or marginalised).
The Trust supports projects which encourage youth volunteering, address a clear, identified community need, and create positive change. It is particularly interested in initiatives which engage volunteers, provide long-lasting benefits, and take innovative approaches to improving communities and tackling local challenges; this may include projects that use existing resources in new ways, or explore creative methods of community engagement. Priority is given to projects which have a meaningful impact, and encourage ongoing engagement in volunteering.
Grants are available to individuals or groups of young people, and applicants are required to provide a referee who knows them in a professional capacity.
The closing date for applications to the current funding round is 5pm on Sunday 4 October 2026.
