The abrdn Charitable Foundation’s (aCF) Small Grants Programme is open to local charities and not for profit community groups, who can apply for small grants of up to £5,000. These unrestricted grants are intended for short-term projects and are available year-round.
The programme is designed to support grassroots initiatives that make a positive impact in their communities.
Application Process
Organisations can register their interest for a small grant using the online application form (linked); completed forms will be shared directly with the aCF team, who will then collate and share with the relevant region’s forum for consideration on a quarterly basis (every 3 months).
The window for small grant applications is open all year round. Grant applications will be presented to the regional forums at the first available quarterly meeting following receipt of the application. Decisions are communicated within 3 months, and funding released within 10 days of approval.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants include registered charities and community-led organisations. Groups and organisations do not need to be registered charities in order to apply. Previous applicants, and those who have applied and have been unsuccessful, are welcome to apply again. Special consideration will be given to eligible charities that have been funded through the Innovation Fund in a previous period.
The aCF does not fund political organisations, organisations which promote a single religious faith, for-profit companies, or individuals.
Capital developments, such as building projects, are also excluded from funding.
