Guide Dogs is one of the UK’s leading sight loss charities, and provides a wide range of services (with and without dogs) to support people of all ages living with a vision impairment. In Scotland, the organisation is currently looking for volunteers aged over 18 years old to become Puppy Raisers.
As a Puppy Raiser, volunteers provide a puppy with the foundation for its future role as a guide dog. They will look after a puppy for 12 – 16 months, guiding them through training, socialisation, and introduce of new environments and experiences, whilst providing a loving home. There are opportunities to look after a puppy for the first 6 months, or second 6 months of their journey, or to volunteer as a Puppy Fosterer, providing short term holiday cover for Puppy Raisers as required.
