Scottish Government is holding interactive engagement workshops across Scotland, in person and online, on firework control zones, which are being introduced as part of the Fireworks and Pyrotechnic Articles (Scotland) Act 2022.
Firework Control Zones (FCZs) are a measure included in the Act, and give local authorities the power to designate areas where it will only be permitted to use fireworks as part of a public fireworks display, or by a person who is employed by (or acting under the direction of) a regulatory authority and using fireworks for that purpose.
Scottish Government see FCZs as a key part of their holistic approach to changing the relationship that Scotland has with fireworks. As a result, they have organised this series of workshops to provide communities with an opportunity to have their views heard, as guidance is developed for local authorities on designating these zones.
Workshops will include relevant information FCZ and the opportunity to discuss and provide feedback on how these could best be used to address some of the issues caused by misuse of fireworks in Scotland.
The next online workshops take place on Friday 31st March, at the following times:
- 10:30am – 12pm, via Teams: BOOKING LINK
