The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) has launched a series of free lunchtime webinars on “Trustees Roles & Responsibilities Training”, open to SCVO member organisations and members of the SCVO Trustee Network.
There are 2 sessions available, delivered by 2 separate charity law specialist firms:
- Tuesday 25th April, 1pm – 2pm, with Anderson Strathern
- Tuesday 20th June, 1pm – 2pm, with Turcan Connell
Each session will provide an overview of the role and the key legal responsibilities of a charity trustee, plus the opportunity for Q&As, with useful templates and toolkits.
Overall Aim
This webinar will help charity trustees understand what to expect and what is expected of them when they join a board. It will help you on your journey to good governance and equip you with the essential knowledge to give you the confidence to carry out your role effectively.
Who is the Training Aimed At?
- Anyone who is new to being a trustee, or is considering joining a board.
- Anyone who has been a trustee for some time, but would like a refresher.

- Tuesday 25th April, 1pm – 2pm, with Anderson Strathern
Gillian Harkness-McKinlay, Director, and Megan Lawson, Solicitor, from Anderson Strathern will provide an overview of the role and the key legal responsibilities of a trustee.
There will be lots of time for attendees to ask questions and share their own experiences, with the opportunity to learn from fellow trustees. There will also be information and tips on how to get access to further support and useful templates and toolkits.
