Applications are now open for the Scottish EDGE competition, a national funding initiative supporting early-stage and high-growth entrepreneurs.
The programme has awarded over £25 million to 569 businesses to date, helping to stimulate economic growth and foster entrepreneurial ambition across the country.
The competition is supported by a partnership of major organisations including Scottish Government, the Hunter Foundation, Royal Bank of Scotland, Scottish Enterprise, and a range of private donors. It is open to businesses across all sectors and offers a range of funding opportunities tailored to different stages of development and social impact.
There are 4 funding categories:
- Scottish EDGE: up to £100,000 (30% grant / 70% loan) for early-stage businesses with high growth potential
- Young EDGE: up to £10,000 (grant only) for in grant funding for businesses where all directors are aged under 30 years old
- Wild Card EDGE: up to £15,000 (grant only) for pre-trading entities, sole traders, and partnerships
- Social Enterprise EDGE: up to £75,000 (70% grant / 30% loan) for community-focused enterprises demonstrating community enrichment
Applicants must complete an online form and submit a 3 minute video pitch outlining their business idea, growth strategy, and potential impact. Entries are judged on criteria including innovation, scalability, financial sustainability, and social or environmental contribution.
The deadline for submissions is 2pm next Wednesday 10 September 2025.
