The Scottish Building Society Foundation aims to strengthen communities across Scotland by funding local projects by charitable or community organisations, which make a difference to their local area through creating lasting benefits for vulnerable individuals and groups (with priority given to projects that can clearly demonstrate enduring outcomes beyond the life of the funding).
In this funding round, grants of up to £5,000 are available for projects that have a wide community reach with proposals encouraged to demonstrate how their project will bring people together, promote inclusion, and deliver benefits across communities. Applications addressing any of the following issues are particularly welcomed:
- Community facilities, services, transport, open spaces, affordable housing, reduction of poverty, and care of the elderly
- Youth and education, providing training opportunities and support for vulnerable young people
- Promoting care and support of vulnerable people; improving community safety, minimising isolation, and maximising wellbeing
All applications must be able to evidence how the funded activity will deliver long-term impact.
Eligible to apply for this fund, include:
- Registered Charities
- Constituted Voluntary and Community Organisations
- Community Companies (Companies Limited by Guarantee, Community Benefit Societies or Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisations)
- Community Interest Companies (if they meet the Fund’s minimum governance standards)
Applications must be submitted by Monday 1 December 2025, with groups able to expect a decision by Late February 2026.
