No Smoking Day takes place on Wednesday 12 March 2025, and this year’s theme is “Quit and Win’’, spreading the message to stop smoking and win back your physical health, mental wellbeing and personal finances.
In honour of this campaign, NHS Forth Valley and ASH Scotland are keen to highlight the following research:
“15% of the population in Scotland still smoke. That’s 685,000 people we want to support to quit (ASH Scotland, 2025). While smoking rates have declined in recent years, smoking is still the cause of around one in five deaths and the primary preventable cause of premature death and ill health in Scotland (Scottish Government, 2023). The risk of developing smoking-related diseases increases with how long and how much someone has smoked, whereas these risks fall substantially if smoking is stopped.”
You can find your local stop smoking clinic online at NHS Forth Valley – Stop Smoking Service, by calling 01786 433293, or by visiting your local pharmacy to boost your quitting chances this No Smoking Day.
