Across the Forth Valley, community groups, organisations and volunteers are already making an important contribution to local biodiversity through activities such as community gardening, wildlife surveys and habitat restoration.

To celebrate and support this work, Forth Environment Link (FEL) Scotland is launching the Forth Valley Biodiversity Festival, a month‑long programme of events and activities taking place throughout August 2026. The festival aims to showcase biodiversity initiatives across the region and bring together individuals and organisations with an interest in nature and the environment.

Local groups, organisations and individuals are invited to take part by hosting an event as part of the festival programme. The festival is open to any activity that helps people learn about, enjoy or take action for nature: such as wildlife walks, BioBlitzes, citizen science projects, gardening workshops, foraging sessions, talks, film screenings and family‑friendly events.

Support is available for those interested in running an event, including a dedicated funding and opportunities resource which has been created to help organisers identify potential sources of funding and assistance.
