The Future Skills: Pathways to Employment programme is a 10 week targeted employability initiative, led by Forth Valley College in partnership with Falkirk Council’s Employment and Training Unit (ETU). It is designed to support people in the Grangemouth area to gain the practical skills, qualifications, and confidence required to access emerging employment opportunities linked to Scotland’s net-zero transition and growing green economy.
Participants will undertake a blend of accredited training, practical skills development, and employability support, alongside employer engagement activities such as site visits and industry interaction.
Training includes recognised qualifications such as IOSH Working Safely, SQA First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) Manual Handling, and British Plumbing Employers Council (BPEC) Environmental Technologies Awareness, combined with learning in digital skills, retrofit and green technologies, and career planning. The programme also develops key meta-skills, such as resilience, teamwork, and self-management to support long-term employability.
While the programme has already started, due to the nature of the qualifications (designed to be short and accessible), new candidates will be accepted throughout the 10 weeks, until the end of the programme.
