FOSS Words of Welcome Farsi Event

Friends of Scottish Settlers (FOSS) has announced the next Words of Welcome event in a series of community events. This event will be based around the language of Farsi, in partnership with Callendar House, taking place on Friday 8 August 2025, 12:30pm – 4pm, at Callendar House itself, Callendar Road, Falkirk, FK1 1YR.

Farsi was chosen as the focus language for this Words of Welcome as a link to the current exhibition at Callendar House, “Somewhere to Stay” by Diana Foster, which portrays her mother’s journey of forced displacement from Poland to Scotland, through Isfahan in Iran (amongst other places).

Ali Zaregol will facilitate a Farsi language taster session from 1pm about the language, with some music and poetry, followed by Iranian food, and time to connect and share in conversations with other attendees.
